{"id":1168,"date":"2014-09-14T22:33:27","date_gmt":"2014-09-15T03:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ssaf.ca\/updates\/?p=1168"},"modified":"2022-09-17T14:18:53","modified_gmt":"2022-09-17T18:18:53","slug":"u10-open-soccer-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ssaf.ca\/updates\/u10-open-soccer-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"U10 Open Soccer Guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"566\">Technical Guidelines<\/p>\n<h1>Under 10 Open Soccer<\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Revised December 30\/19<\/p>\n<table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Garamond; font-size: medium;\"><i>General Rules<\/i><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Each game will consist of 2 x 12 minute halves, running time with a 2 minute half time, and a 3 minute warm-up prior to the game.\u00a0 There will be NO timeouts.\u00a0 This applies to both round robin play and playoff rounds.<\/p>\n<p>All teams will be allowed a maximum of 7 players and 1 goalie on the field at one time.\u00a0 Substitutions are made on the fly.\u00a0 A team may bring up to 20 participants.<\/p>\n<p>This is an OPEN tournament, thus there are no gender quotas.<\/p>\n<p>A size 4 regulation outdoor soccer ball will be used.<\/p>\n<p>Shin pads are mandatory for all players.<\/p>\n<p>The HOME TEAM (designated on the schedule by the second team listed) will begin play with a kickoff at center.\u00a0 The ball must be passed forward and cross the centre line before play can commence.<\/p>\n<p>Indirect free kicks will be awarded for any fouls.\u00a0 If the ball is kicked out of play a throw in from the side lines will be awarded to the opposing team..<\/p>\n<p>A 2-minute penalty will be assessed for any purposeful body contact or major rule infractions.\u00a0 The team assessed the penalty will play 1 man short for 2 minutes.\u00a0 The player may return to play when the penalty has expired.\u00a0 Penalties will expire if the opposing team scores a goal.<\/p>\n<p>Handballs will result in a free kick for the opposing team.\u00a0 A handball is considered any contact from the shoulder down to the fingertips.<\/p>\n<p>The goalkeeper may not use his\/her hands outside of the crease (large box).\u00a0 To clear the ball after a save, the goalkeeper may either throw the ball or kick it out of his\/her hands.<\/p>\n<p>After a goal is scored, the ball will be placed at center for a kick off by the team that was scored on.<\/p>\n<p>A retreat line will be marked by cones at the spot on the field where there would be a \u2018line\u2019.\u00a0 The \u2018retreat line\u2019 serves to increase the amount of players who get touches in the game.\u00a0 The line is employed only on a \u2018dead ball\u2019 whistle that results in a goal kick (not every time the goalie touches\/saves the ball).\u00a0 The opposing team must retreat back behind the \u2018retreat line\u2019 until the ball is played from the ground by the goalie.\u00a0 Once the goalie has played the ball the opposing team may challenge.<\/p>\n<p>There will be no overtime in round robin play. Ties in determining playoff spots will be decided by a) head to head b) goals for and c) goals against.<\/p>\n<p>All spectators must stay on the sidelines at all times and cannot stand behind the nets.<\/p>\n<table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\"><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Garamond; font-size: medium;\"><i>Playoff Rounds<\/i><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>5 penalty shooters will be chosen by each coach and submitted to the referee before commencing a playoff round game (in case of OT and a shootout).\u00a0 A coin toss will take place at this time to determine which team will shoot first if needed.\u00a0 The winner of the coin toss may choose if he\/she wants their team to shoot first or second.<\/p>\n<p>Overtime in semi-finals and finals will consist of a coin toss for possession or choice of side.\u00a0 The team that wins the flip will choose to have 1st possession or choose which side they would like to start on.\u00a0 Overtime will be a 5-minute sudden victory period.\u00a0 If both teams fail to score in the first 5 minute sudden victory, a 2nd 5 minute sudden victory period will be played.\u00a0 If both teams fail to score after the 2nd sudden victory, a penalty shootout will occur.<\/p>\n<p>Penalty shootouts will take place as follows &#8211; All kickers and the 2 goalkeepers will follow the referee\u2019s instructions as to where they should be on the field.\u00a0 All kicks will take place in the same net.\u00a0 Both teams will alternate their 5 penalty kick shooters in the order listed on their sheet.\u00a0 If the game is still tied after all 5 shooters have gone, then one by one the coaches may select their sudden victory kickers.\u00a0 No player may kick twice until everyone has kicked.\u00a0 This will be tracked by the referee.<\/p>\n<p>Referees decisions are FINAL.\u00a0 Zero tolerance for verbal abuse towards officials is in effect.\u00a0 Any violations will result in immediate action, up to and including removal of the offender from the tournament or forfeiture of games.\u00a0 Zero tolerance for trash-talking.\u00a0 Violations will result in a 2 minute penalty and removal of offenders from the tournament or forfeiture of games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Technical Guidelines Under 10 Open Soccer Revised December 30\/19 General Rules Each game will consist of 2 x 12 minute halves, running time with a 2 minute half time, and a 3 minute warm-up prior to the game.\u00a0 There will be NO timeouts.\u00a0 This applies to both round robin play and playoff rounds.
