About Us

Welcome back SSAF schools,
This past week we had our SSAF Executive meeting via Zoom regarding the status of interschool athletics.  As a result of our meeting we would like to communicate to everyone that all SSAF sanctioned events for the fall season have been cancelled. The status of 2021 winter and spring SSAF events will be determined at a later date.
This decision is in alignment with the province’s Stage 3 reopening regulations. Those regulations apply a number of restrictions to sports and recreation activities that ultimately prohibit the possibility of SSAF events.
Despite this disappointing news, we continue to recognize the vital role of sports in education, and whenever possible, encourage the engagement of students in sports and activity for the
benefit of their physical and mental well-being.
If you wish to reference resources, the Ontario government has compiled several sport-specific safety and protocol documents from provincial and national sport organizations. These are available athttps://www.ontario.ca/page/return-to-play. Further, the province’s Stage 3 reopening regulations contain rules concerning sports activities -https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/r20364.
We will likely attempt to schedule an SSAF meeting with the ADs in late September to assess the likelihood of resuming competition for the winter season.
At this time we do not require your school’s deposit, athletic waiver forms, or insurance certificates.
Please check the most current SSAF Directory posted in the members area of the website.  Please print and save for your records.
Thank you for your support. We will keep you informed on the status of SSAF winter and spring events when those decisions are finalized.
Yvonne Cahill
SSAF Vice President

The SSAF was developed to provide small schools and/or independent schools with a definite avenue for, but not limited by, the expression of physical talents. Our purpose is multi-fold. We want to provide girls and boys with the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities at a higher level of skill than generally found in the intramural program. The SSAF also encourages students to participate in activities in a climate of fair play and sportsmanship.

The pursuit of physical excellence is encouraged but is not the ultimate objective. We aspire to instil in our athletes those qualities which enable them to lead socially able and physically fit lives outside of the educational environment. We wish to reinforce qualities of courtesy, sportsmanship and self-respect. It is our desire to instil an appreciation of and a realistic appraisal of the concepts of success and failure.

We aim to combine satisfying interpersonal relationships with competition and offer a positive social environment in which one may pursue friendship and social responsibility. In short, sport is a medium through which we acknowledge the many capacities of the individual, and we reinforce these experiences which will bolster the rewards and satisfaction of total participation in each given school.

  • To encourage and develop good sportsmanship.
  • To provide competition in athletics for as many students as possible.
  • To improve the standard of performance in all athletic activities.
  • To offer all SSAF member schools the opportunity to compete in extramural activities.
  • To ensure a good standard of officiating for all athletic activities.
  • To foster the development of friendly relationships between member schools through athletics.
