Elementary Flag Football  – Friday, November 1st, 2024

Registration: When registering please include the name and email address of your coach and the athletic director.

Registration will close Friday, October 11th

Location: The Hangar (indoors)  75 Carl Hall Rd, North York, ON M3K 2B9

First games will start at 9am and we aim to be finished by 3pm

Equipment: Footballs, flags, jerseys (numbered) & pinnies in the event of jersey conflict. ****shorts or pants should NOT have pockets****

Some notes about the tournament and SSAF flag football.

At the elementary level we have found it more appropriate to use junior size balls.

The flags have been causes of controversy in the past.  They should be velcro and hang by the sides over tucked-in jerseys.  I have found the belts that come off altogether don’t work very well and teams have had to change them mid-game.  Ensure that flags are not old and curled up.

This was made in conjunction with Danny Bobb our officials’ team leader.

We have played since 2018 by setting all the defensive players 10 yrds back (not just the rusher).  In the interest of consistency, we will continue to do this and can address any issues and permanent rule changes as a motion at the next SSAF meeting.

A common mistake players make is that when running the football, team mates run ahead, which may block the defence.  Ensure offensive players that don’t have the ball are trained to stand still when you are running the ball.
