U12 OPEN Flag Football

U12 Flag Football Results

This year we saw our U12 flag football competition grow to 10 teams.  With RMS coming out of hibernation and AMS, Hudson and joining too.  It was also great to witness the rise in the standard of play from all teams.  After convening the last couple of years, my co-worker was the onsite convener allowing me to join the fray and coach, so I had less of an overview of the day.  In group A Hudson and St. Judes were very competitive. However, CMS edged out Everest to win the group.  In group B PACE showed they were no slouches and Bond proved to be very tenacious.  However, Tall Pines and Northmount finished on top tying and both were unbeaten.  Tall Pines were just on top with slightly better points against differential.  Everest beat Tall Pines in the semifinals and Northmount were just edged out by the reigning champions CMS, as Northmount failed to score with the last play of the game (I swear, that little toe was NOT on the line!).

The final was CMS vs Everest.  CMS had a tremendous running game.  However, Everest’s passing game started to really click and their ability to run or pass opened the field up for them.  So, Everest “Eats gold medals for breakfast” are the champions!   Congratulations!

I had a great day coaching and few people commented on how great the atmosphere was – I thought so too!  For the first time, we had a consolation game for those that did not make the playoffs.  I am hoping this will encourage more teams to join for next year.
